Monroe County Early Childhood Profile

The Indiana Early Learning Advisory Committee (ELAC) is monitoring key indicators to track Indiana’s progress on making early childhood education accessible, affordable and high-quality for children and families.

The ELAC Interactive Dashboard provides data specific to our community in four focus areas: Young Children & Families, Accessibility, High Quality, and Affordability.

In Monroe County, 64% young children under six need care and education while their parents work. Despite research supporting the value of quality early learning experiences, only 26% percent of Monroe County children who need care are enrolled in high-quality early education programs.
