Dr. Jim Laughlin recognized as 2018 Indiana Early Learning Champion

Congratulations to Dr. Jim Laughlin, recipient of the 2018 Indiana Early Learning Champion Award! Dr. Laughlin was recognized on October 16 at the Indiana Early Learning Summit.

An inspiration to colleagues, health care professionals, and families in Monroe County, Dr. Laughlin understands the importance of how early learning affects children, parents, employers and the community at large. He has been involved in many early learning initiatives, often serving as leader and advocate in our community and beyond. Through the Monroe Smart Start Let’s Read program, he and his colleagues distribute age-appropriate books the distribution of age-appropriate books and literacy guides at child wellness appointments to more than 8,000 young children every year. Dr. Laughlin has advocated and spoken on panels to health care professionals and community leaders on how they can embrace and further early childhood education initiatives in their communities. He has served on the leadership cabinet for the Community Foundation’s early learning fundraising campaign and even donned a superhero cape this past spring for Thrive by Five Giving Day on April 25.
